Kirtland, Ohio
Yesterday our family spent the afternoon at Kirtland where the Whitney's house and store were located. It was so special to see the beautiful area and events where each meeting of the first presidency was taken place. The little rooms they had and the small kitchens they had and thier tiny kitchen tools were incredible. And to just imagine how they would have to bundle up each night. The Kirtland Temple was very amazing to see inside the structure and how the built each piece of stair so steep. It must have taken so long to build and I know that they just knew it was the beginning of so many marvelous works on the earth.

The Book of Mormon
(1 Nephi 26:34-36) - I will be merciful unto the Gentiles in that day, insomuch that I will bring forth unto them, in mine own power, much of my gospel, which shall be plain and precious, saith the Lamb.
35 For, behold, saith the Lamb: I will manifest myself unto thy seed, that they shall write many things which I shall minister unto them, which shall be plain and precious; and after thy seed shall be destroyed, and dwindle in unbelief, and also the seed of thy brethren, behold, these things shall be hid up, to come forth unto the Gentiles, by the gift and power of the Lamb.
36 And in them shall be written my gospel, saith the Lamb, and my rock and my salvation.
Elder Bednar states.......
" The Book of Mormon is the most correct of any book on earth because it centers upon the Truth (see John 14:6; 1 Nephi 13:40), even Jesus Christ, and restores the plain and precious things that have been taken away from the true gospel (see 1 Nephi 13:26, 28–29, 32, 34–35, 40).
I know that the Book of Mormon is all truth. And I am excited to read it with my children daily so that they can feel the spirit of truth as well!

1st Nephi Chapter 7
9 How is it that ye have not hearkened unto the word of the Lord?
10 How is it that ye have aforgotten that ye have seen an angel of the Lord?
11 Yea, and how is it that ye have forgotten what great things the Lord hath done for us, in adelivering us out of the hands of Laban, and also that we should obtain the record?
12 Yea, and how is it that ye have forgotten that the Lord is able to do all athings according to his will, for the children of men, if it so be that they exercise bfaith in him? Wherefore, let us be faithful to him.
In these verses, it reminded me of how I need not forget the Lord in my prayers and when I am searching for an answer, I need to be faithfull and remember that He will answer me and that I have been so blessed with guidance in my life. He has helped me feel the spirit many time in church, while I have studyied in my scriptures. I have felt peace and comfort in prayers and have felt his love numerous times. He helped me feel good about marrying Scotty, and about helping my children numerous times. I am so blessed!

1 Nephi Chapter 2
When Lehi was told to leave his home and take his family to the wilderness, he did not spend a lot of time and thought into what he should bring with him, because his greatest value was his family. Lehi stopped after three days and made an altar and offering and thanked the Lord, even though it probably wasn't that easy. Lehi trusted the Lord enough to know that He would lead their family where they needed to go what they would need to do next. Lehi had great faith in the Lord.

1 Nephi Chapter 1:
11 And they came down and went forth upon the face of the earth; and the first came and stood before my father, and gave unto him a book, and bade him that he should read.
12 And it came to pass that as he read, he was filled with the Spirit of the Lord.
As I read this I thought how I need to try to read the book of mormon quietly and prayerfully so that I can feel the spirit every time. I sometimes just read to get the deed done with that day, but it's the taking time to really study, when you learn new insights as you read.

My first thoughts of today!
Life is how you make it. Each day is completely different from the next and only you can determine what you will think, do, and say. There are two sides of life. Good and Evil. Which side are you on? I am striving for the good side which will leave you feeling happy and at peace. I am not perfect, but only reaching for that goal to be like my Savior. Nephi wanted the same. He was obedient to God. -Jenny
